My motto in life is: go big or go home.

Ironically, it took me several years before I took those words to heart. Stories have occupied my attention for as long as I can remember. My earliest memories revolve around acting out sprawling sagas with my She-ra dolls and My Little Ponies.

But like many creative types, I bought into the idea that you can’t make a living doing what you love. That you needed a sensible, practical job and maybe on the weekends, you could pursue your passion projects. If you have time, of course. There’s always stuff to do: spend time with family, chores around the house, hang out with friends…but you know, in your free time. It happens. Sometimes.

So I did exactly that.

Years later, I finally came to the realization that wasn’t the life for me. I don’t want to leave behind any regrets.

It’s time to go big or go home.

A More Concise Biography…

Alessa was originally born in the Philippines but now lives in the Washington D.C. suburbs. She writes about dangerous women and the equally dangerous worlds they live in. In addition to writing, she practices yoga, fusses around in her vegetable garden, watches lots of action movies, and reads even more books and manga. She also finds writing about herself in the third person to be very weird and would like to keep it to a minimum if at all possible.
